A lot of people are obsessed with auto racing and Formula One, either as spectators or as aspiring drivers. Formula One or F1 is officially called the FIA Formula One World Championship. FIA stands for or the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile. Formula refers to the set of rules which all cars and participants must comply with. Today, Formula One is the highest of all the classes of auto racing which is sanctioned by the FIA. Although it is popular worldwide, it is particularly famous in Britain, where you can study a German language course (Sprachkurse deutsch) from their language schools (Alemania Sprachschulen) at night.

Each F1 season is made up of a series of races, with each race called a Grand Prix. The races are usually held on specially built circuits and sometimes, on closed city streets or on former public roads. The results of the races are combined in order to determine the winners of the two annual World Championships, one championship for the constructors and one championship for the drivers. All organizers, circuits, racing drivers, track officials, constructors and constructor teams are required to have valid Super Licenses, which are the highest class racing license that the FIA issues. The rules of Formula One are studied by aspiring F1 racers in order to have sufficient knowledge once they do get out on the circuit, in the same way that aspiring linguists take up German language courses in language schools in Britain.

Cars that race in Formula One go at exceedingly high speeds, which can reach up to 220 miles per hour or 360 kilometers per hour with the engines revving up to 18,000 RPM, the imposed limit. The performance of Formula One cars is dependent on aerodynamics, electronics, suspension and on tires.

The Formula One series originated from the European Grand Prix Motor Racing that was popular back in the 1920s and the 1930s. Formula One was an all-new formula that was put together in 1946, after the World War II. The first non-championship races were also held that year. Several Grand Prix racing organizations had laid out a set of rules for a World Championship prior to the onset of the war, however, because auto racing was banned during the World War II, it was not until 1947 when the World Drivers’ Championship was formalized. In 1950, the first world championship race pushed through in Silverstone in United Kingdom. In 1958, a championship for constructors was held. Today, Formula One has seen a lot of evolutions and developments which have greatly changed the sport from the time when the first races were held.

Europe is the center of Formula One and it is where all of the racing teams are based. Half of the races are also held in Europe. Some of the most popular Formula One drivers include: Giuseppe Farina, the first winner of the Formula One World Championship; Michael Schumacher; Mika Hakkinen; Mario Andretti; Fernando Alonso; Kimi Raikkonen; and Lewis Hamilton, the latest champion of the Formula One World Drivers’ Championship. Some of the constructors of Formula One would include BMW Sauber, Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, Toyota, Williams, Toro Rosso, Red Bull and Brawn GP.

Today, many young individuals are into Formula One, not just as a spectator but as an aspiring driver as well. F1 hopefuls usually go through a lot of training and classes as well as amateur races in order to be prepared for the circuits and drivers of Formula One. Similar to the training that these aspiring drivers have to go through, many students also choose to study some German language courses in language schools all over Britain.
